  • Problems with immobiliser

Not for the first time, i broke down in traffic the other day. Has anyone else had this scenario....

    happily driving along.
come to a halt in traffic.
    traffic starts to move.
engine has stopped, gears have disengaged.
chorus of horns from all and sundry.
    turn off ignition.
    nothing.
    AA man arrives looking confused.....
Consults AA bible - resets immobiliser and away we go!

Quite annoying as this is a completely random occurence. The car has occasionally been stuck in gear '0' (novel) but never failed to start.

I'm becoming quite a regular at smart Brentford, as i had a faulty fuel injector replaced last month...

it's a faulty brake pedal switch by the sounds of it perhaps?

mmmm - smart examined the car and said they could find no fault...so i guess i'll wait until it happens again and get them to come and collect it.

just the 1st thing I thought of -

It could also be a different problem from as major as a faulty ECU to as simple as a dodgy earth connection anywhere on the car

Isn't there a recall for the dodgy earth/ground nut thing ?

Ask 'em next time you take it in.
