Out of the 287 miles, over 100 of those were on a b roads, i also had to go though Aberdeen and Dundee,(Not bad for a 1.1)

I just went for a spirited drive. This will be the 1st time i have ever been had points on my licence.( And the last)

Well my car is on 9500 miles and over the past 3500 miles on the computer its averaged 30mpg. Its a varied mixture of driving I do too, including high speed and town, so maybe I shouldnt complain so much after all?

You put a K&N in yours yet Keith?

I think I'd be pretty upset with 30 MPG out of 1.1 petrol to be honest.

Keith did have a quite high average speed though (hnce the speeding ticket). A hard driven small engined car can be as thirsty as a less stressed large engined car!

I'm not, i knew what i was doing was daft, but hey pay your money and take your chance.

I'm afraid mpg means nothing to me, (That comment might open a can of worms)i never check it, if i drive slow i fill up less often, if i drive hard i fill more often.
At the end of the day if i need petrol i put it in.

I am looking at a 4 wheel drive 3.0 v6 xtype jag for next year, so it's a good job i don't check it

                      Re: Mpg

I have found my 1.3 to be quite economical below 60mph... above 80.. forget it

I have found my 1.3 very economical compared to all the other cars I have had. Runs better and more economical on optimax.

Will have to give the optimax a try, mine seems to be getting better as the mileage increases too

I just did a trip to Manchester and back at the speed limit not above and got 32.8mpg on the way up and 36.2 on the way back. All the way there and back on a tankfull, leaving me 0.5l when i got off the motorway @ Cribbs Causeway!

What was your average speed and how many miles Tony?? either way it was still a good mpg you got, better than our 1.1 Passion
