  • Replacing steering wheel and steering angle sensor

About to change leather steering wheel but have noticed there is a reference to calibration of steering angle sensor

1 If you are careful (what ever that means) can you get away without having to get it done

2 what happens if you do need it calibrated?

3 how do you know it need done?

    1. yes you can, disconnect the battery for a good quarter of an hour before you fit, to allow any residue charge to dissipate, and keep the wheel dead straight when fitting, don't allow the sensor to rotate as you do it.
    2. you have to take it to smart.
    3. the esp light will come on permanently.

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

just to add - line up the road wheels so that they are straight ahead with the steering wheel centered before you take off the old wheel - obvious but easy to miss if you're worrying about something else
