Re: Speedo remap

But how is it done, years ago Digitec replaced my 90 mph speedo with a 120mph.

This was done in my work car park, it was taken for a drive round the block and was magically recalibrated.

There was no star machine involved (as if!) and I recollect something being done whilst going at 30mph..

I really would like to do this myself.

On the original question, get the correct speedo face and you will not need any recalibration, Lockwood dials sell both types (linear and non linear)

Re: Speedo remap

My understanding was that it was done via a standalone dongle which I thought plugged into the back of the speedo... Maybe it went in the obd port instead?

Re: Speedo remap

We have Jonboy's old kit, BUT it's pretty much knackered, needs a SLOW pc with windows 95 (maybe 98 works not 100%) and a serial port IIRC and is a PITA to use! I know Paul was looking at alternatives but it's an 'on the list' job

Re: Speedo remap

I have been in contact with Metal monkey dials who say they can make me a dial to suit my speedo. This will certainly be cheaper than paying MCC for a remap.
Maybe Lockwood could do the same but they dont list a kmh dial of any sort for a Smart car in their standard range.

I bought a 140kph dial to replace it but find that the dials are set out differently. The mph/kph dial is a linear gauge but the kmh dial is logrithmic (ie the distance between the graduations gets less and less as you go round the dial)
This makes my speedo hopelessly inaccurate.
Does anyone know if it is possible to remap the speedo so it will operate with the kmh dial please?
Malced, you have

but want

Correct? I have both these if you wanna PM me.

Re: Speedo remap

Dan, got any bigger pictures?

Plus it's really very clear that you have exactly the speedo he doesn't want! Lol
He wants a linear km/h dial.

Re: Speedo remap

That's not a log scale anyway

Looks to me totally linear up to 60, and then from 60 to 140 it just goes up in double time, but still linear

Take a look why don't cha !!

Quite correct! Now I've looked at it closer I see that it is a linear gauge but the result is the same.
The standard kmh dial speedo will not work in my car and I cannot find out for sure if it is possible to remap the car to accept this type of speedo. Rather than take the chance and end up paying my local dealer more than the car is worth to try it I have opted for a custom made dial from Metal Monkey. Then all I need to do is get the dealer to change the odometer to km. That shouldn't cost much more than a new engine!

Re: Speedo remap

Have a look at Lockwood dials

http://www.lockwoodinternational.co....ials-c140.html

They do a few unfortunately I want black and they only only do white for the CDi

There are a few on ebay too that do linear and non linear

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MPH-SPEEDO-SMA...item4aa476dbdd

Thanks for the info Kate, that makes sense now

OT but could have sworn we were sitting next to Jonboy with a lady and young lad in Garfunkels near Tottenham Court Road last Friday I should have said DIGITEC louder
