        Erm....hang on....have I got this right?
If the wiper relay goes bad....I have to buy a new SAM?
        They can not be serious?
Please tell me I have the wrong end of the stick!

Thanks for the update of links.
Also on a 42 450 Mk2 -2000, the wiper relay is external, despite whats shown here:
            http://www.evilution.co.uk/545
Relay "K" on my car is the heater blower relay, and the front interval wiper relay clicks somewhere else, further inside the facia panel.

Difference between 450 mk7 and Roadster relays are here:

              Roadie:
              http://www.fq101.co.uk/how-to-guides...onfig-452.html

              fortwo 450:
              http://www.fq101.co.uk/how-to-guides...onfig-450.html

There is a mismash of relays on the mk1-6s. All of them have engine relays located in the underseat fuse box but relays for other bits are either in fuse box eith the ZEE or dotted around the dash.

For example, the early fortwos which don't have a boot release solenoid have a different configuration to the others. There are later models (mk5/6 I think) which drop the dipped headlights when the ignition is turned off (but keep the side lights on) even with the stalk switched to dipped beam. These cars use a separate healight relay located within the dash.

Cheers Smartsparky, So my fortwo is a 56 plate, making the link you porvided above valid for my car.
Scary how many relays are with in the SAM unit.... they need to hire a better maintainability engineer!

To be honest, in the unlikely event that a relay would fail, you could carefully remove the old one and solder in a new one without too many problems. However, I haven't heard of a relay failing on a SAM (that hasn't been drenched like the Roadies!)
