  • CDI 54 performance exhaust

Does any one make a performance exhaust for the 54CDI with no cat/dpf I understand the the downpipe part is a little different from the 45cdi.

Maybe there is the chance of modifying a decat petrol exhaust?

    Thanks

you do know you will have to have your car remapped to remove the DPF regen cycles if you remove the DPF?!

There is nearly no benefits in a performance DPF-less exhaust for the 54 diesel, certainly not more than 2bhp and 4ft/lb of torque.
Certainly not worth the several hundred quid it would cost. Get it remapped and leave the DPF on. Speak to Tony at Tune4Performance.com

Have a look at the graphs:

I drive one, and the DPF is a nightmare, it holds the revs up, and hangs onto the gears...I am ripping it out, 100% Plus it adds lots to the mpg if you are a town driver, you did not test the MPG....

I understand what you are saying about the performance, why did you not cut the cat out as well and test it? you might as well as you had the exhaust cut open.

I do a lot of short trips so I see it in regenerate mode a fair bit, so for me it will be better.

            Thanks for the reply.

              Re: CDI 54 performance exhaust

Exhaust wasn't open, they made a replacement exhaust without a DPF but still had connections for the DPF pressure sensors so the DPF flags didn't need turning off. As there is no DPF, it couldn't block up, the pressure doesn't rise and it doesn't attempt to regen.

I think with the DPF removed and decat you would see a lot better MPG, even with the one that was putting out all the smoke.

Our Golf TDI really does chuck out the soot when you floor it, but on the motorway, at light cruse we have seen 700 to tank.
